Lucia Garza
1922-2014

Lucia Garza, born on August 20, 1922, went with the Lord on January 30, 2014 at the age of 91.
Born in Mexico, Lucia Garza is survived by Raul Garza, Rosa Garza, Alicia Garza, Irma Garza, Apolito Garza, and Sergio Garza. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Lucia was a stern, disciplined woman who found great comfort in the love shared by her family. She enjoyed long visits from those who were close to her, and made sure everyone who visited her had the opportunity to spend time with her in her beautiful garden. Lucia also enjoyed barbecuing; she was deeply fond of Mexican food, especially barbacoa. Her family will surely remember how delicious her fritadas was. Until her final days, Lucia remained an elegant, virtuous woman with absolute love for those close to her.
Lucia’s viewing was held on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 pm., with a Rosary held at 11 a.m. on the same day. Services were held on the same day at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She was laid to rest at the Santo Cristo Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the great care and direction of Valdez & Sons Memorial Funeral Chapels.

David Gomez Lopez
1932-2014

David Gomez Lopez, born on October 30, 1932, went with the Lord on January 30, 2014 at the age of 81.
Born in Mexico, David is survived by his lovely and devoted wife Rosa Lopez. He is also survived by his daughters Alma Rosa Mendez and Maria Concepcion Lopez; his daughters David Javier and Sergio Javier Lopez; his brother Pedro Lopez Gomez; and his sisters Santa Rosa Lopez and Martha Lopez Gomez, as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
David was known to be a great, intelligent professor and a righteous, considerate guide, always ready to deal with all things that came his way. His devoted wife Rosa knew him as an affectionate and loving husband and a remarkable partner who she was fortunate to share her life with. Some knew him as a passionate mechanic who not only managed to repair automobiles and engines, but who undisputedly loved doing so. Others knew him as a baseball fanatic. But everyone who ever came his way will remember him as a great man. David was a loving and devoted husband, an exemplary father, and a great, respectable, righteous friend.
Viewing for David was held on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. His service was held on the same day at 7:30 p.m. Another viewing was held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by his service. He was laid to rest at the Maverick County Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the great care and direction of Valdez & Sons Memorial Funeral Chapels.

Robert Lee Herrera
1966-2014

Robert Lee Herrera, born on April 9, 1966, went with the Lord on January 29, 2014 at the age of 47.
Born in Stanton, Texas, Robert is survived by Concepcion Herrera, as well as his sisters Consuelo Flores, Elva Medina, Eva Herrera; and his brothers Danny Herrera, Arturo Herrera, Rene Herrera, Fernando Herrera, Jose Herrera, Julio Antonio Herrera, David Herrera, and Jesus Herrera.
Robert was a man who was passionate about gardening and music. Some might remember him for his fun, energetic way of singing. He was a man who enjoyed fixing and things and organizing and carrying out remodeling projects. Those who were close to him knew him as “Bear.” Until his final days, Robert was known as a great brother and a loyal, passionate man.
Viewings from Robert were held on Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 9.m. His religious services were held the same day at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. Another viewing was held on Monday, February 3, 2014. He was laid to rest at Our Lady of Refuge Cemetery in Eagle Pass, Texas. Arrangements were made under the great care and direction of Valdez & Sons Memorial Funeral Chapels.

Gustavo H. Correa Guerra
1936-2014

Gustavo H. Correa Guerra, born on February 26, 1936, went with the lord on January 1, 2014 at the age of 77.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, Gustavo was the son of Juan Correa and Felipa Guerra. He is survived by his devoted wife Rosa Maria Rodriguez De Correa. He was currently a citizen of Eagle Pass, Texas.
Gustavo’s viewing was held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m, with his Rosary being held at 7 p.m. on the same day. His Mass was held on January 2, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the First Methodist Church. Arrangements were made under the great care and direction of Valdez & Sons Memorial Funeral Chapels.

Daniel Martinez Banda
1953-2014

Daniel Martinez Banda, born on November 9, 1953, went with the Lord on February 1, 2014 at the age of 60.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, Daniel is survived by his brothers Ramiro Martinez Banda, Enrique martinez Banda, and Israel Martinez Banda. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Maria Teresa Martinez.
Daniel was known as an energetic, loquacious man who enjoyed long conversation with everyone. Those close to him knew that he had the rare ability of talking to anyone about absolutely anything. Daniel was also fond of construction, remodeling, and was meticulous about his tasks—whether painting, remodeling, or any other project that he was involved with in his life. He will be remembered for his sympathetic and convivial attitude, and his grand, passionate heart.
Viewing for Daniel was held on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. His Rosary was held on the same day at 7:30 p.m. Another viewing was held on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., followed by his service at 10 a.m. He was laid to rest at the Maverick County Cemetery in Eagle Pass, Texas. Daniel Contreras
1939-2014

Daniel Contreras, born on January 3, 1939, went with the Lord on February 4, 2014 at the age of 75.
Born in Mexico, Daniel is survived by his devoted wife Rosantina Contreras. He is also survived by his two sons Gabriel Contreras and Daniel Contreras Jr., as well as his daughters Maria Teresa Sanchez and Rosalia Felan; his sisters Paula Rosales and Gloria Contreras; Maria Lazar, and Manuel Contreras Jr.
Daniel was an honest, endearing man who was fond of the outdoors. He loved to spend time fishing, and was also enthusiastic about all things western. He enjoyed cowboy movies and barbecuing on weekend with his family and friends. Everyone close to him will remember him for the great husband, father, friend, and ultimately the great man he was.
Daniel’s viewing took place on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. His rosary was held on the same day at 7:30 p.m. Another viewing took place on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by his service at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Claudio Contreras
1934-2014

Claudio Contreras, born on March 29, 2014, went with the Lord on February 3, 2014 at the age of 79.
Born in Mexico, Claudio Contreras is survived by his dear wife Dora Lucia Contreras; his sister Fidelia Faz; his brother-in-law Jose Ramon Camacho; his sister-in-law Maria De Los Angeles Camacho; his brothers-in-law Lazaro Camacho, Rene Camacho, Valente Camacho; his nieces Juanita Contreras and Maria De La Luz Contreras; and his nephew Abel Contreras.
Claudio, also known as “Choco,” and “Mi Negro” by his dear wife, was an easygoing man with a grand sense of humor. Even if a serious man at times, he was fond of jokes and spoofs, and would constantly show beyond doubt just how noble he was. He was proud of the life he lived, and would enjoy spending hours looking at treasured photographs of cheerful and meaningful memories of times spent with those he loved.
Claudio’s viewing took place on Thursday, February 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. His rosary was held on the same day at 7:30 p.m. Arrangements were made under the great care and direction of Valdez & Sons Memorial Funeral Chapels.

Salvador Ramos, born on September 26, 1937, went with the Lord on February 7, 2014 at the age of 76.
Born in Mexico, Salvador is survived by his daughter Mary Jane Ramos, his sons Salvador Ramos and Rolando Ramos, and his sisters Melva Moncada and Maria Tames. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Salvador’s viewing took place on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. His rosary was held on the same day at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapels. Another viewing took place on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Salvador’s services was held at Our Lady of Refuge Church at 12 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2014. Maria Del Refugio Compean, born on February 9, 1927, went with the Lord on February 15, 2014 at the age of 87.
Born in Mexico, Maria is survived by Ana Maria Morales, Cony Castañeda, Mary Ruiz, Felipe Compean, and Roberto Tarin.
Maria was a strong, determined woman with long-established, classic interests. She was greatly fond of sewing, and was quite recognized for her needlecraft, as well as her consistent hard work. She was fond of traveling, and enjoyed seeing new places and being presented with new experiences just as much as she took pleasure of her own home and being surrounded by the ones she loved.
Maria’s viewing took place on Sunday, February 15, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. A service was held on the same day at 6 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapels. Another viewing was held on Monday, February 16, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by her service at 1 p.m. She was laid to rest at Our Lady of Refuge Cemetery in Eagle Pass, Texas. Maria Hernandez was born in Eagle Pass, Texas. She was a member of the Getsemani Church, and was currently in Cedar Park, Texas when she went with the Lord.
Maria’s viewing took place on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Service was held on the same day at 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel’s Chapel A. Another viewing was held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., followed by her service at 10 a.m. at the Getsemani Temple. She was laid to rest at Our Lady of Refuge Cemetery in Eagle Pass. Arrangements were made under the great care and direction of Valdez & Sons Memorial Funeral Chapels.

Sonia Yolanda Morales, born on December 22, 1962, went with the Lord on February 13, 2014 at the age of 51.
Born in Mexico, Sonia is survived by her sisters Olga Reyes and Rosa Isela Morales, as well Mario Arredondo. She spent her final moments in San Antonio, Texas.
Sonia was a responsible, dedicated woman who, above all things, loved her nephews and nieces. She loved spending time with family members and everyone else she was close to, and would cherish every family reunion and every occasion where she could spend her time with the ones she loved.
Sonia’s viewing took place on Friday, February 14, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Her rosary was held on the same day at 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel’s A Chapel. Another viewing took place on Friday, February 15, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by her service at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Pass. Esperanza Puentes
1957-2014

Esperanza Puentes, born on May 12, 1957, went with the Lord on February 15, 2014 at the age of 56.
Born in Mexico, Esperanza is survived by her husband Jorge Puentes, as well as her daughters Maria Isabel Marinez and Liliana Puentes; her mother Josefina Yamanaka; and her brother Alberto Maldonado. She is also survived by six grandchildren.
Esperanza’s viewing took place on Sunday, February 16 from 10 am to 9 pm. Her rosary was held on the same day at 7:30 at Memorial Funeral Chapel’s Chapel B. Another viewing was held on Monday, February 17, from 8 am to 9:30 am, followed by her service at Sacred Heart Church at 10 am. She was laid to rest at Our Lady of Refuge Cemetery. 1991-2014

Tomas Romo Jr., born on August 1, 1991, went with the Lord on February 24, 2014 at the young age of 22.
Born in Eagle Pass, Texas, Tomas is survived by his father Tomas Romo, his mother Carmen Ovalle, his son Tomas Romo III, his sisters Leticia Romo, Tanya Yareli Romo, Juany Aracely Romo, his grandmother Juana Ovalle, and his wife Michelle Ortiz.
Tomas was an enthusiastic young man with a passion for fitness and music. He enjoyed spending his time lifting weights and exercising, as well as listening to all kinds of music. His family will remember him for the bright, lighthearted young man, devoted husband, and great son he was.
Tomas’ viewing will be held on Thursday, February 27 from 11 am to 9 pm at Memorial Chapels. A service will be held on the same day at 7 pm in Chapel A. Another viewing will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 8 am to 10 am, followed by his service at Memorial Funeral Chapels’s Chapel A. He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Refuge Cemetery.

Ramona P. Negrete
1925-2014

Ramona P. Negrete, born on August 18, 1925, went with the Lord on February 21, 2014 at the age of 88.
Born in Mexico, Ramona is survived by her daughters Hortencia Peña, Martha Negrete, and Sandra Cirilo, as well as her sons Victor Manuel Negrete, Francisco Javier Negrete, Miguel Negrete, Ramon Gustavo Negrete, Rafael Negrete, and Martin Eloy Negrete.
Ramona had a great passion for music and singing, and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and everyone close to her. She will be remembered for the devoted wife and the exemplary, relentlessly caring mother she was.
Ramon’s viewing was held on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 3 pm to 12 am. Another viewing was held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 8 am to 12 am. One final viewing was held on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 8 am to 9:30 am, followed by her service at Santuario de Guadalupe Church at 10 am. Louis Medina, born on August 30, 1945, went with the Lord on February 24, 2014 at the age of 68.
Born in Ohio, Louis is survived by his devoted wife Guadalupe medina, as well as his daughters Martha Castañeda, Maria Elena Medina, Celia Rodriguez, Maria Luisa Tovar, and Raquel Mhore. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren.
Louis was a traditional man with a great passion for nature. He enjoyed fishing, as well as cooking outdoors with those closest to him. He was also known for his great skills and interest in pool. A hard worker, Louis will be remembered for the great father and husband he was.
Louis’ viewing will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 2 pm to 9 pm. His rosary will be held on the same day at 7:30 pm at the Chapel La Fe. Arrangements were made under the great care and direction of Valdez & Sons Memorial Funeral Chapels.

Maria Isabel Ritchie, born on November 5, 1926, went with the Lord on February 21, 2014 at the age of 87.
Born in Mexico, Maria is survived by her daughters Zulema Fernandez and Blanca Ritchie, as well as her sons Eduardo Ritchie, Jorge Almazan, and Carlos Almazan. She is also survived by her brother Miguel Almazan.
Maria was an elegant woman who always made sure to appear exceptional. She was will be remembered for the great love she had for every one of her family members, as well as everyone she cared deeply for. Her family certainly recognized how much they meant to her, and that they were always her foremost priority.
Maria’s viewing was held on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 10 am to 9 pm. Her rosary was held on the same day at 7:30 pm. Another viewing was held on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 9 am to 11:30 am, followed by her service at St. Joseph’s Church at 12 pm. She was laid to rest at the Maverick County Cemetery. Amalia Mendez, born on June 6, 1926, went with the Lord on February 19, 2014 at the age of 87.
Born in Mexico, Amalia Mendez is survived by her sons Raul mendez and Miguel Mendez, as well as her daughters Guadalupe Segura, Rosa Barrientos, and Maya Mendez.
An earnest woman, Amalia was known for her great dedication and orderliness. Amalia always made sure to keep everything around her organized. Also known for her strict and rigorous demeanors, Amalia made sure that every member of her family always had everything he or shed needed.
Amalia’s viewing was held on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 2 pm to 9 pm. Her rosary was held on the same day at 7:30 pm at Memorial Funeral Chapel’s A Chapel. Another viewing was held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 10 am to 1:30 pm, followed by her service at 2 pm at Sacred heart Church in Eagle Pass.
